What an incredible document. Written as a corrective for the too weak Articles of Confederation, yet also with a concern about a too strong government. When I think of the new embrace of governmental power by the right today, intentionally inhibited by the Constitution, I think of Reagan's declaration, "I've always felt the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help." The founders embedded their healthy skepticism into the document and that concept seems to be lost in which the Right no corrects the lefts, but wishes to imitate it.
